Rules - Card Conflict?

Titel: Card Conflict?

Hey guys, I'm still new to the game and I just ran across a possble problem while playing today. Here it goes, what if I have Duplicator of Strength ( The Earth value of one of my character cards double ) in my support area from prior turn and I want to play Potion of Prodigious Passion ( The values of one of my character cards increase to 5 ) on my "new" character card...how do I figure the total value? Let's say my character has a base value of 3 Earth for example. I hope I described my fix good enough for you guys to understand, hehe! Thanks!

It's your dicision in wich order you use the Cards.
So in your Case it's intelligent to use Prodigious Passion first. That increase the Value of your Charakter to 5 as it ist written on the Card. Now you can use Dublicator of Strength. Your Charakters Value counts as 5 so your Strength ist 10.

If you Choose to use the Cards in oposit order (why evver you should do this Wink

) your Stregth will be 6 (Value of the Character 3 * 2 = 6).
Prodigiouse Passion has no effect in this Case, because your Charakters Value is higher than 5 allready.

You not only, may choose the order that maximizes your values, but you have to do so.

Special Rules hat folgendes geschrieben:

7. If there is more than one instruction influencing the fire or earth values of other cards, first apply all increasing instructions in the order that maximizes the values, then apply the decreasing instructions in the order that minimizes the values.

This - on first sight - may seem to apply only for situations with increasing and decreasing effects.
But the condition

is fulfilled even with increasing effects only.
So you have to

first apply all increasing instructions in the order that maximizes the values,

(Potion of Prodigious Passion and then Duplicator of Strength)

then apply the decreasing instructions in the order that minimizes the values.

(nothing)

I'm about 95% sure, that this has been confirmed by someone in touch with Reiner Knizia (Christopher Dearlove or Sebastian Rapp)

You have no choice in that situation, your strength is 10 earth.

I'll make that 100% if you like. And it's in the (English language) FAQ list, although slightly buried in an answer rather than being its own question.
